Goose Morse — Help & Support
Last updated June 28, 2026
Goose Morse is a Koch-method Morse-code trainer that teaches you to hear letters at full character speed from day one. This page covers getting started, common questions, troubleshooting, and how to reach us. It is a quick read.
Getting Started in 60 Seconds
- Open a lesson. Lessons start at K and M and add one new character at a time, up to the full 26-letter alphabet.
- Learn the new character first. Every new letter begins in a two-stage lesson phase: Stage 1 is guided recognition (multiple-choice), Stage 2 is a short mixed drill. You need to clear both before training opens up.
- Train by ear. In group training, all the audio plays up front with a short gap between groups. Listen, then type what you heard, and submit your full answer.
- Hit the passing streak. Pass the lesson by holding target accuracy across several sessions in a row. That unlocks the next lesson.
The goal is real head-copy skill — hearing a character and knowing it instantly, without counting dots and dashes. Aim for 20 WPM.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Koch method work?
The Koch method teaches Morse at full character speed from the very first session. You start with just two letters (K and M). A new character is added only once your accuracy on the current set stays high. Because you never practice at slow speed, you never build the bad habit of counting individual dots and dashes — you learn the sound of each character as a single unit.
What is Farnsworth spacing?
Farnsworth spacing keeps the characters themselves at full speed but stretches the gaps between characters and words. It lets beginners have more thinking time without slowing down the actual letter sounds. You can set a character speed (the real letter pace) and a separate, slower effective speed in Settings.
How do I unlock the next lesson?
Each lesson unlocks when you pass a number of consecutive qualifying sessions in a row. A qualifying session needs accuracy at or above the lesson's target and a minimum number of characters typed. Miss the target once and the streak resets to zero — keep at it and the streak rebuilds. Lesson unlocking happens automatically; the Result screen only reports how you did.
Why do my mistakes keep coming back?
That is the error reinforcement feature. Characters you get wrong are tracked, and when error reinforcement is on they are weighted to appear more often in later sessions. It is intentional: the app focuses your practice on the letters you struggle with until they stick.
What are the five visual effects?
Pick the one that helps you focus. They are non-interactive and just give your eyes something to follow while you listen:
- Pulse wave — a rolling waveform that mirrors each dit and dah.
- Spectrum — a colored bar spectrum that reacts to the tone.
- Constellation — a star-map style decode visual.
- Decode ring — a looping ring animation tied to the signal.
- Flashing lamp — a Morse signal lamp that flashes the code.
Which keyboard layout should I use?
Three layouts are available in Settings: Alphabet (A–Z order), QWERTY (standard keyboard order), and Koch (characters in the order you learn them). Alphabet and Koch are great while you are still learning the letters; QWERTY feels natural if you already touch-type. Keys are always at least 48×48 px so they are easy to tap.
What is GooseMorse Pro?
GooseMorse Pro unlocks the complete 25-lesson Koch-method course, the Flip Challenge game, and Pro practice access, with more courses and content planned for future updates. You can subscribe monthly or annually, or buy a one-time lifetime unlock. The same Pro entitlement works across all your devices once restored.
How do I restore a purchase?
Open the GooseMorse Pro screen (the paywall or Settings → GooseMorse Pro) and tap Restore Purchases. Sign in with the same Apple ID / Google account you bought with, and Pro returns on any device you own. There is no separate account — your purchase is tied to your app-store account.
How do I reset my progress or settings?
In Settings you can reset two things separately: Reset Settings returns audio, keyboard, and visual options to defaults, and Reset Lesson Progress clears all accuracy, streak, and error history so you start from lesson 1 again. Resetting progress cannot be undone, so the app asks you to confirm first.
Is my data private?
Yes. There is no login, no account, no ads, and no analytics. Your settings and training progress are stored only on your device. The only network use is processing and verifying GooseMorse Pro purchases through the app store. See the full Privacy Policy.
Troubleshooting
I can't hear any Morse audio
- Turn up the volume both on your device and inside the app (Settings → Volume).
- On iPhone, check the physical silent / ring switch and that Focus / Do Not Disturb is off — some iOS setups silence app audio when muted.
- Make sure no Bluetooth headphones are intercepting the audio.
- Try a different tone frequency in Settings; some frequencies are easier to hear than others.
- Restart the app, or reinstall it — your local progress is preserved as long as you don't reset it manually.
The screen stays on during training
That is intentional. Wake lock keeps the display awake while a session runs so the screen doesn't sleep mid-drill. It turns off again when you leave training.
My progress seems to have disappeared
- Progress is stored locally. It does not sync across devices or back up to a server unless your device's own cloud backup restores it.
- If you reinstalled the app, only an OS-level backup/restore (iCloud, Google) can bring local progress back.
- Check that nobody tapped Reset Lesson Progress — that clears everything on purpose.
Subscriptions & Refunds
GooseMorse Pro subscriptions renew automatically through your Apple App Store or Google Play account until you cancel. You can manage or cancel anytime in your store's subscription settings:
- Apple: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.
- Google Play: Open Play Store → tap your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google directly, not by us — submit a refund request through your app-store account's purchase history. A one-time lifetime purchase is also available if you prefer not to subscribe.
